Inside a Modern Zeppelin Concept design by DesignQ

Gambar
Airships may seem to be anachronisms from the distant past, but Hybrid Air Vehicles in Great Britain is building a high-tech, super-capable, modern version dubbed the Airlander 10 (not quite as grand as the Aeroscraft concept we offered in Ultimate Gift Guide, but much more feasible). Now, DesignQ has imagined a luxury interior concept for the Airlander—revealed at the recent Farnborough Air Show in Great Britain—that would be ideal for adventurers touring remote and spectacular destinations. HAV’s Airlander 10 is more than 300 feet long, and carries a spacious stand-up cabin that measures 150 by 10 feet—bigger than most private jets. With plenty of space for luxury accommodations, along with floor-to-ceiling windows, the airship provides a travel experience not possible in any other way—similar to a cruise ship, but exploring the sky instead of the oceans. DesignQ, a boutique design studio based in London, worked on their luxury cabin concept for more than a year before its debut at F...

Acionna Yacht Concept Revealed

Gambar
British yacht designer Andy Waugh has released his latest energy-efficient concept. British designer Andy Waugh has announced his latest yacht concept. The impressive 175m  (574-foot) eight-deck motor yacht is destined to push boundaries—not only in style but in efficiency, too. Designed to challenge preconceptions about a yacht of its size, its elegant lines are complemented by the finishing touches throughout. Acionna’s interior is built for those with imagination. The yacht’s ample space can include just about anything, including (but not limited to) a full-size squash court, helicopter hanger, or 20m (66-foot) indoor pool. With eight decks, there is plenty of space to play with. The double-height main saloon features panoramic curved glass overlooking the main aft-deck pool. Uniquely situated between a central “island” of communal areas, the pool also flows down the sloped transom and into a lower pool of the swim platform. Yet another unique feature to this advanced concept is...

Embraer Introduces Its First Flying Taxi Concept at the Uber Elevate Summit

Gambar
The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer has revealed details and pictures of its new electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing concept. The second annual Uber Elevate Summit—a two-day event hosted by the ridesharing behemoth dedicated to exploring advances in urban flight technology—kicked off today in Los Angeles, giving attendees the first look at Embraer’s new electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing (VTOL) aircraft. Like the rest of Uber’s partners—including big aviation names like Bell Helicopter and Mooney—Embraer hopes its design will be adopted by Uber for its Elevate air taxi ecosystem, which Uber anticipates will be operating in a limited number of cities by 2020. The futuristic aircraft (presented thus far only in renderings) was designed by Embraer X, a skunk works–like arm of the Brazilian air manufacturer dedicated to developing innovations in transportation. Created following the last Uber Elevate Summit—during which Embraer announced a partnership with Uber—Embraer X is based i...

Rimac’s Concept Two Hypercar 1.914 Horses

Gambar
Will Rimac’s  Euros 1,6 million / $2 Million Concept Two Hypercar Live Up to the Hype? A total of 1,914 horses will purportedly propel the vehicle from zero to 100 kph /60 mph in 1.85 seconds and allow it to reach 415 kph / 258 mph. Croatian supercar maker Rimac Automobili lists some pretty spectacular specs for its Concept Two hypercar. Zero to 100 kmh / 60 mph acceleration in 1.85 seconds. Zero to 100 mph in 4.3 seconds. Quarter-mile sprinting in 9.1. And top speed? Well, that would be 415 kph / 258 mph. All courtesy of electric motors delivering a mind-bending 1,914 hp and 1,696 ft lbs of torque. Yes, it’s all too easy to dismiss the audacious performance claims as pie-in-the-sky hyperbole. Especially as this $2 million, carbon-fiber two-seater has yet to spin a wheel in anger. Yet to ignore Rimac and its 30-year-old visionary Mate Rimac, is to do so at your peril. This is the company that has already demonstrated its technical prowess with a run of 1,224 hp Rimac Concept One e...

Lamborghini has revealed the Terzo Millennio, a concept supercar

Gambar
A little over a year ago, Lamborghini announced that it was collaborating with students and professors at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on future car technologies. The first fruit of their collaboration has been revealed in concept form today, and boy, it's something else. It's an all-electric hypercar called the Terzo Millennio—Italian for "Third Millennium"—and it's packed with all sorts of wild tech. With the Terzo Millennio, Lamborghini is attempting to answer a seemingly simple question asked by the company's chief technical officer, Marurizio Reggiani—"what is the super sports car of the future?" For Lamborghini, that means an electric car, but one unlike anything else we've ever seen. Lamborghini wants an electric car that can run three or four laps of the Nurburgring Nordschleife in a row at full tilt, then completely recharge within a few minutes. And all the while, it has to provide the performance and emotional experi...

Superyacht Project Zephyr is Absolutely Stunning

Gambar
The new 180-foot yacht Zephyr, designed by Federico Fiorentino and built by Rossinavi, reaches 32 knots but its high-performance hull is designed to cross the Atlantic. Federico Fiorentino ’s new 180-foot Zephyr concept makes use of a combination of gentle curves popular in ’60s automotive designs and taut lines to create a long, streamlined profile, embellished with stainless-steel accents. The Rossinavi -built yacht will have a Fast Displacement XL 500 hull by Van Oossanen Naval Architects . The XL running surface is the next step forward for the Dutch firm’s patented fast displacement hull form. It provides 20 percent more speed over the previous generation and, perhaps more critical to the owner, 20 percent more interior space. On Zephyr, the hull is particularly noteworthy: With 16V 4000 MTU engines, it will deliver a top speed of 32 knots. At 12 knots the yacht has a transatlantic range of 3,540 nautical miles with fuel consumption of less than four gallons per nautical mile. One...

Heesen’s 272-foot superyacht Project Maximus

Gambar
It’s rare for the worlds of yachts and cruise ships to collide, but Heesen’s 272-foot Project Maximus incorporates elements of both vessel types to create one of the most interesting superyacht concepts shown at Monaco. It might be a coincidence that the Maximus name is also the longest hull length that Heesen can build at its facilities in the Netherlands, but the boat is vast by any measure. Clifford Denn used his experience designing luxury cruise liners for Cunard, including the Queen Mary 2 (QM2), and Viking Ocean Cruises to shape Maximus. The arches along the sides, with vast glass panels, are dramatic, giving the boat an almost speedboat profile. Denn also positioned the wheelhouse—which typically sits amidships and near the top deck on most yachts—forward and beneath the passenger decks. This unorthodox position then allowed Denn to devote 100 percent of the exterior decks, from the rear swim platform all the way to the foredeck, to the owners and guests. This kind of unbroken ...
